Summary: The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is
simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white
striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of
breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des RĂªves, and it is only open at night.
But
behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway: a duel between two
young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood
expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst
to them both, this is a game in which only one can be left
standing. Despite the high stakes, Celia and Marco soon tumble headfirst
into love, setting off a domino effect of dangerous consequences, and
leaving the lives of everyone, from the performers to the patrons,
hanging in the balance.
My Review: At first, I was confused as to what the heck was happening in this book... well, who am I kidding, this confusion lasted throughout most, if not all, the book, but while trying to figure out everything I was confused about, I read the entire book in one sitting, so I guess i'm grateful for my tiny, easily confused, brain.
This book, other than being highly confusing, is actually a VERY good book, one that, even being fictional, not based on anything realistic whatsoever, made me sad and almost cry more than once, and gave me a lot to think about.
This book mentioned it being a 'romance for adults' on the back cover, which put me slightly off of it, and almost made me not buy it, but then I remembered The Story Siren's review(whom I hold in the deepest respect, one of the best book bloggers) where she billed it as crossover, so I got it. I'D LIKE TO SAY A HUGE THANKS TO THAT REVIEW, because it made me get a great book! For all young adults also put off by it's adult ranking- it's not adult in any way, i'm not exactly sure why it's commonly shelved as that, other than the confusing-ness(i'll pretend thats a word) of the book, but that might also be because of my tiny brain.
Overall, I highly recommend this book, it's quite a good book, that had me spellbound from early on, not even breaking the spell yet, long after I closed the back cover.
